Scaling

Scaling is a more thorough method of plaque removal compared to regular teeth cleaning. This procedure involves scraping plaque off the surface of the teeth, helping your gums and teeth recover from bacterial buildup. Scaling is typically painless as it focuses on the crown of the tooth and may not require anaesthesia. However, if there is significant plaque accumulation, local anaesthesia may be recommended for added comfort.

Deep Scale and Root Planing

While scaling addresses the tooth crown, root planing targets plaque below the gum line, where it can lead to gum pockets, gum recession, and tooth loss. Deep Scaling and Root Planing effectively remove plaque and tartar from beneath the gum line and smooth the root surfaces, making it harder for bacteria to adhere and reducing further infection.

Antibiotics

In cases where plaque and bacteria are deeply embedded between the teeth and gums, physical removal alone may not be enough to clear the infection.
